Homework/Tareas en la casa
HOMEWORK'S IMPORTANT, BUT SO IS TIME TO DO OTHER THINGS Children learn best by doing & experiencing what's around them. I try not to overload families with too much homework (see the homework specifics further down on this page). Research confirms the importance of play time and of personal interaction for healthy cognitive and social development *We already spend a LOT of time on computers during school. If given the chance, go do something else when you get home. *READ! Read to your child, read with your child, read around your child. *Spend time talking with each other (texting doesn't count) *Go play outside & be a kid. *Do family chores and activities. *Go places together-the store, the museum, etc. *Cook, plan activities, shop for groceries, & make things--these provide necessary math & communication connections. These build real-life comprehension and interdisciplinary connections that no worksheet can. |
