Our district uses a combination of 2 math programs: Eureka Math (also known as Engage NY) and Cathy Fossneau Math Workshop Units of Study. Assignments in Beaverton's math classes will be a mixture of online lessons, group math tasks, and multi-day story problems with proofs. I will post examples of student work on our class gallery via SeeSaw. Be watching!

Common Core StandardsThe Common Core Math Standards-- links to math standards for 4th graders in Oregon & around the country. Emphasis is less on mere memorization of algorithms and more on understanding why that fact or algorithm works & how you can use it beyond math class.

Helpful Math LinksIt can be hard, as a parent or tutor, to know how to navigate helping a child with this way of doing math. Here are links to helpful homework information, vocabulary cards, and more.
Zearn is the online portion of our district's math program, Eureka Math. Each lesson has mini lessons, guided practice, and games, all to help you master the same material we will cover in class. Remember: you have to read the instructions carefully. If you forget a step, the computer will not let you move on. You can find Zearn at www.Zearn.org Link to the Oakdale Math Website--All sorts of Engage NY/Eureka Math resources organized by grade level http://www.oakdale.k12.ca.us/cms/page_view?d=x&piid=&vpid=1391596408603 Link to Lafayette Math Website--Here's another website I really like, especially the helpful video links: http://www.lpssonline.com/site5521.php |
